Abstract

To identify the various diatom species that can be found in the waters of the River Narmada, which flows through five different Indian cities before emptying into the Arabian Sea. Diatoms of various types were seen as the water's flow changed. Rivers play a major role in assimilating or carrying industrial and municipal waste water, manure discharge and run off which are responsible for river pollution. The study shall assist to determine the different types of diatoms present in the river Narmada. The new procedure showed that all siliceous frustules of sea and river diatoms are more resistant to H2SO4 diluted treatment and are still recognizable after digestion, and observation under the microscope is better than the other procedure. There were many different kinds of diatoms to be seen, and it was discovered that the diatoms in the water collected from various cities in India varied, including local species. The diatom species found in the water of the Narmada River that were collected from various locations are described in the study.
