Abstract

In this paper, the differential transform method (DTM) with Pade approximation was applied to obtain the solution of two-dimensional viscous incompressible hydromagnetic flow over a power law stretching plate with free stream pressure gradient in the presence of transverse variable magnetic field. Employing similarity transformations, the governing nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equation and approximate solution of the governing nonlinear ordinary differential equation was calculated in the form of DTM series with easily computable terms. Then, Pade approximations are applied to the solutions to increase the convergence of the given series. The validity of the series solution was verified by comparison with numerical results obtained using fourth order Runge-Kutta method. The computed DTM-Pade velocity profiles and skin friction profiles are shown and the influence of magnetic parameter, velocity ratio parameter, suction/injection parameter and stretching parameter on velocity and skin friction are thoroughly discussed.
