Abstract

The i-Think Program was introduced by the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) which should be emphasized in teaching and learning the language in the classroom to produce students who are skilled in predicting, formulating, creative and critical thinking and solving problems in the study of Literary Components (LC) in Malay Language. The purpose of this study was to identify the students' knowledge, attitudes and readiness on i-Think in learning LC. Besides that, the study also aimed to investigate the differences in the students' knowledge, attitudes and readiness toward i-Think use in learning LC based on the gender factor. The study involved 243 Form 2 students from three secondary schools in Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah. The researcher used a questionnaire as an instrument with five Likert scales for the purpose of collecting data. Descriptive analysis found that the students' knowledge (M=4.05), attitude (M=4.18) and readiness (M=4.04) of i-Think use were at a high level while the t-test indicated that there were significant differences of knowledge, attitudes and readiness between male and female students towards i-Think use in learning LC. Therefore, it is hoped that teachers will be able to create a more conducive learning environment using the i-Think in the classroom in order to increase students’ interest in learning LC.
